No. In fact, the opposite is true. When it comes to how these fossils should be classified, Robin Derricourt of the University of New South Wales, Australia, wrote in 2009:

In 2007 the science journal Nature published an article by the discoverers of another claimed link in the evolutionary tree, saying that nothing is known about when or how the human line actually emerged from that of apes.
Gyula Gyenis, a researcher at the Department of Biological Anthropology, Eötvös Loránd University, Hungary, wrote in 2002:
“The classification and the evolutionary place of hominid fossils has been under constant debate.”*

An extremely good question, Don, with very valid points to follow, but because you are coming from a religious stance (though apparent in your comments), you put yourself in the target area of staunch and fanatically dogmatic evolutionists who will attack your 'god-did-it' beliefs, rather than defend, with 'proven evidence', their own beliefs.
This is another one for the evidence-less evolutionist's 'thumbs down brigade'. Tap away you sad souls, it's all you can do in defence of your beliefs.
Whenever I hear concensus, I think it is more about politics than science. There is much we don't know. The reason for this is the sparseness of the fossil record. That record does support the theory that humans evovled but there is still much that we don't know. For example, we used to believe that Neanderthals were in our ancestry. Then we found H. heidelbergensis and others that required the reconsideration of the evidence. It turned out that Neanderthals were more of a side branch but later did add some genes through hybridization. We know this through DNA evidence. We also have DNA evidence of other types of humans such as the Denisovans and Red Cave People. This evidence leaves almost no doubt that humans evovled but it certainly also reveals that we have much to learn.
In fact, humans are apelike creatures. We are the last in a long line of bipedal apes. Those are the facts. You can call a chicken a dog if you want but it still clucks.
