Which "White House"? Clearly not one on the North American continent. Canada in 1492? Ah, yes, there is a small part of the Isle of Wight (on the south coast of England) called Canada Something, possibly that name was in place in the 1490s, but what dud PM mean in those days? Pontifex Maximus? But the pope was never in England!
Yes. He apologized to Columbus, personally. He actually had to travel to Hispaniola to deliver the apology...the Pony Express being SO slow in Ocean Tides.
It happened during the War of 1812. We didn't burn it to the ground, we smoldered it. The White House is called the White House because the people who lived in present day Canada had to whitewash it (basically painting it white). So I think that is enough of an apology.
