How do you factor ax²+bxy+cy² form?
Any websites on this would be helpful.
1. 3a²+6ab-24b²
2. 7a²-28b²
3. 4a²+14ab+12b²
4. a^3-4a²b-21ab²
5. a^3-ab^3
thanks
1. 3a²+6ab-24b² = 3(a^2+2ab-8b^2) = 3(a+4b)(a-2b)
2. 7a²-28b² = 7(a^2-4b^2) = 7(a+2b)(a-2b)
3. 4a²+14ab+12b² = 2(2a^2+7ab+6b^2) = 2(2a+3)(a+2)
4. a^3-4a²b-21ab² = a(a^2-4ab-21b^2) = a(a-7b)(a+3b)
5. a^3-ab^3 = a(a^2-b^3)
Your answer will be something like this:
(#a + #b)(#a + #b)
That way, you're getting both a times a, b times b, and a times b.
Hope this helps somewhat.
1) (3a+or- ___)*(a+or-___)
(__+or- 6b) * (__+or- 4b)
(3a-6b)(a+4b)
You should be able to use the same way you factor a normal equation ax^2+bx+c.
