From a purely geographic standpoint, I would say no. It would actually make more sense for Canada to have Alaska as another Canadian province, and in return we would give up New Brunswick, PEI, and Nova Scotia. But I doubt USA would be willing to trade the oil, gold, diamond, and other natural resources in Alaska for the softwood lumber, zinc mining, and fishing rights of the Maritime region. And never mind the fact that the Canadians in those areas would not want to be part of USA, and the Alaskans would probaby rather die than lose their American citizenship.
Don't forget that the region of "New England" includes states like Massachusetts and Connecticut. Imagine your history books telling about the Boston Tea Party and Paul Revere's ride through the countryside warning that the "Redcoats were coming!", but having those areas now belong to another country! I would find that very embarrassing. You will find historical places like that all through the New England states.
Not really. Well, I can see Maine, Vermont, and maybe New Hampshire easily adapting as Canadian territories but not Massachusetts or Connecticut. They're a vital aspect of American history and culture, so much so that they could never be canadian.

There's been jokes that Vermont, or New Hampshire or even Maine could join Canada easily. Especially with their Franco-American population.
I like New England. Very much like the Maritime provinces.
