The President is NOT the "head of the Government" in the US - merely the holder of the office which heads the Executive Branch of the Government.
There are 2 other branches - Congress and Judicial, and the government is a careful balance of tension between all 3 - this is what is meant by "checks and balances".
No one is at the "Head", but each is assigned its own responsibilities.
the other earlier answers are correct about the relationship between Presidents and Kings though, there is none.
In most countries the people would say no, that because a king is supposedly ruling by divine right, he must be more important. However, since most kings are not chosen by the people, I would consider President a much more prestigious position - he (or she) was elected, chosen, not by birth but by the people.
Unfortunately you'll get a different answer in different places, from different people. This is just my humble opinion.
no. we have what would be called a bicarmel govt. he can be overuled by congress or the supereme courts. he does not have obsolete powers nor does our congress have the same powers as the parliament. even the top jobs under a president must be approved by the congress and they can be a different party and or mixed party and cannot be dismissed like a parliament can be. a pres cannot appoint senators for life either, he las less powers than a PM.
Both are head of state. The President is also in many countries (including US) the head of government. It is rare today for monarchs (kings and queens) hold any executive power.
