Does a person’s family background determines his course in life?

It can but often times people will use the scriptures and bible principles to rise above anything that a person may have experienced in childhood. That is the good thing about what we receive from Jehovah.
Common sense tells us a family background can have ab effect, good or bad. But the bottom line is the individual himself. He or she must choose for themselves their course in life.
The Bible provides examples of how this works. One is found in 1 Kings 14. The family of Jeroboam was very bad. And the whole family was to be destroyed. But there was one little boy who was very sick. This child was the only one of the family who was given a burial. Why? Because something good toward Jehovah God was found in him. (1 Kings 14:13)
Another was good king Hezekiah. His father was so disgusting as to sacrifice some of his own children to a false god by burning them while alive on the alter. But Hezekiah turned out to be one blessed by God for the kind of life he led.
This is one way anyone can benefit by Bible study. Because of its candor we can learn by the example set by other people. We do not have to learn the hard way.

The context of Deuteronomy 30:19 is referring to a time when Israelites had fallen out of God’s favor. Moses states three basic requirements for the Israelites to choose the best way of life. He encouraged loving, listening and sticking to Jehovah (Deuteronomy 7: 12, 13).
We show our love by acting on what he requires of us (Matthew 22: 37)
We show we listen to him by looking into the Scriptures and obeying (1 John 5: 3)
We show we stick to him regardless of the trials and tribulations we face (2 Cor. 4: 16-18) The Israelites fell short of this.
He was a loving father and just wanted the Israelites to obey. After all, wasn’t the issue in the Garden of Eden a matter of obedience? He stated, if only you would listen and obey your peace would become just like a river (Isaiah48:18, Psalm 81:13)
No a person's family background does not determine his course in life. Just as the Israelites had the free will to decide for themselves so do we.
No body can be a Jewish Rabbi unless they have inherited it! This is why both of Jesus parents genealogies are included. It proves Jesus is a higher ranking Rabbi! It was around half a doz. "lower ranking" Rabbi's that went to the Roman ruler and got Jesus Murdered! Crucified! Envious of Jesus' higher rank...
(At the same time they went to get Jesus killed; ALL the other rabbi's were on the same hill Jesus was teaching at, some in the open, some in hiding!) This is how they got away with killing Jesus, none of the other rabbi's were there to hear their plan and stop them!
