Do you think that the Ténardier of "Les Misérables" by Victor Hugo still exist?
In Les Misérables, the couple Ténardier keep all the gifts that Cosette receives from her mother and gives them to their own daughters. Although Les Misérables is a fiction, we all know that Victor Hugo based it on his own observation of the society around him in the 19th century. And so, my question is" do you think that such ugly couples who keep other people's children's gifts still exist? I personally know so. I have seen an ugly couple lately keeping what was sent to them for someone else's children for their own children. Appallling, I know, in the 21st century! You think people would evolve! No. But maybe because they are in India, so they did not evolve. Have you seen such a thing happening?

Yes. Greed is greed. It has nothing to do with where one lives, geographically, it's the world over.
As a foster mom I have seen good and bad parents. Some foster parents are very kind and go the extra mile, some take whatever stipend is paid to them and get the bare necessities for the children. Regardless, the children in America are not starving or being blown up. Stuff is just stuff.
You mentioned "You think people would evolve!" If you believe in evolution no wonder you feel aghast. On the other hand, the Bible tells us at 2 Timothy 3:1-5 what men would be like in the last days.
1 But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self-assuming, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, 3 having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, 4 betrayers, headstrong, puffed up [with pride], lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godly devotion but proving false to its power; and from these turn away.
Sound about right?
And who is in charge and behind all this wickedness? Satan. But not much longer.
