I believe the truth the story is meant to convey - that God brought into existence all that exists. Period. Obviously the story is not meant to be taken word for word literally.

Well since Adam and Eve could not write, at the time, no. Its kind of like a movie or a long book. If it was a biography then you might have something, but it is not a biography.

Adam and Eve represent the Father and Mother, the Alpha and Omega.
You see this everywhere: Yin and Yang,
Hot and Cold, Rich and Poor, Father-Sky and Mother-Earth etc.

Except for creationists, most Christians don't take every aspect that story as literal. The history of life just doesn't line up with it.
