both the laptops are totally different.... one is 10 inch monitor small laptop with slow processor but easy to carry and portable (ACER) and on d other side, with good hard disk capacity, larger screen and powerfull processor (compaq).... this depends on ur usage and requirement... if u travel a lot, dnt play heavy games, dnt run heavy duty softwares, then ACER is d best option... but if u need to use it at hope or in ur office/college, and want to play heavy games n run heavy softwares and want to do multitasking (more than one task at a time), u shud go for Compaq....
Compaq is heavy and acer is light weight... processing speed will be better in compaq... but acer will look good and will support ur day to day basic task,..
so if u want to carry ur laptop to ur college, on a daily basis, u shud go for acer...
if u talk about durability and fault tolerance, both are, more or less, same... i hav used acer compaq dell and now apple... compaq created loads of prblms for me and acer was too gud for me.. but other people might hav better experience with compa
I viewed the compaq form their website, for the acer i couldn't even find their own product, but i got the specs from another site. Overall the compaq is better. The biggest plus is you can swap out parts for small fees. Do you want 1, 2 or 4 gig for the RAM? Need that 5 in 1 memcard reader? If not, you can save yourself 60$ Need a builtin webcam? Or can you go without? Need lightscribe or just a normal DVD burner? I am also taking price into account....
Toshiba have one over 7 yrs. and still works very good, one 4 yrs. and works like new.

If had no choice but between the two it would be the Compaq even with the older and less than the best processor.
The other shows no CD/DVD drive and a very slow processor.
Compaq deffinitly! Just from experience, i've had both. My compaq lasted me about 5 years, my acer only about 3.
compaq for sure
