I often hear professed Christians say that “God has a plan for each of us” or “God has a plan for my life.” On what basis do you feel people believe this to be true? Is there some scripture they have in mind which moves them to believe that God ‘has a plan’ for them individually? Keep in mind the definition of plan: American Heritage College Dictionary defines the noun as: a scheme, program, method, worked out beforehand to accomplish an objective. The verb is defined as follows: to have as a specific aim or purpose.

Yes I do. We're working through it right now.
The plan at this stage has a tangible end result which, by a series of what you would probably call coincidences, is within sight.
It doesn't matter if you choose not to believe that, or even call me a liar. This is God's plan for me working out.
And quoting The Simpsons, in which every character is a parody, seems counter-productive to me. I guess you haven't achieved that level of understanding yet, Stimpy, have you?
While the plan for all of us is the same, that we be God-fearing people who do what is right, we can see by example in the Bible many who were born, or trained, or put into the right place to do a specific plan that God needed done. At the same time, we also read with certain words and actions that if we refuse, God will raise up someone else to do that job.
Examples:
Solomon--to destroy the hold on Israel by the Philistines. He refused.
Ester--to save Israel from extinction. She accepted
Ruth--a foreigner who became in the lineage of Christ. She left other gods and followed God.
Etc.
As a Bible-reading Christian, I do not. Ecclesiastes 9:11 makes clear "time and unforeseen occurrence befall [us] all."
God does have an ultimate plan for remaking the earth and helping people, but as far as what happens to us as individuals living in this world, it is largely the doing of time, circumstance, and people.
Yes, they do -- which is why I wonder why they often try to alter God's plan by praying for some other outcome, usually something quite selfish.
"Prayer has no place in the public schools, just like facts have no place in organized religion." - Superintendent Chalmers, The Simpsons.
