The simple answer to that is no. If you change yourself to fit in, you betray yourself and lose your individuality as well as your identity independence. It's better to be a loner who stays true to his or herself than to be a social butterfly who's pretty much a slave to the expectations of others. Unfortunately, i can't give you examples to support my answer.
