What type of things did he do to repress the people?
Update:Yeah. But does anyone know about the subject in more detail? I heard he fired on the population, gave people cancer (subjecting them to 5 mins of X-rays), and supressed freedom of speech. It would be nice if there were any eye-withness accounts.

People were freezing in their houses, there were frequent power-cuts, food was scarce (it was given in certain rations) and in order to buy that food you had to stand in incredibly long queues (well, they actually looked more like huge crowds).
I was born in 1986, so, fortunately, I don’t know that much from my own experience, but I do remember those queues. It’s quite strange – I was so used to those crowds and when they disappeared (probably once the revolution came) and my mother took me with her to buy bread I was extremely puzzled, I thought there was something wrong, it all seemed abnormal, as I could see no queues in the street where there was the store where bread was sold – the queues always spread into the streets – I think you had to wait around 2 hours in order to buy a loaf of bread, maybe even more.
As I said, I was quite young and I don’t remember those things, but I’ve heard people saying they used to get up early, at 3 or 4 o’clock in the morning, in order to catch a good place in the queue for meat (you couldn’t always find meat – I think it was sold only once a month).
On the 23rd of August people were obliged to go be part of the parade in the honour of “the most beloved son” of the country (that was Ceauşescu, of course). Not to mention the suppression of speech, the Security Police – my mother told me that long after 1989 (when the Romanian revolution was) she had a sentiment of fear every time she saw a policeman on the street.
Here are some films from the national television archives - they are not exactly eloquent (they couldn't possibly be - the system was nothing but one big lie, not to mention that you only had 2 hours of televison programme a day): http://media.tvr50.ro/media.php?cat=13
And a website about Ceauşescu and the “Golden Epoch”, as it was called:

Well, he put all his opponents in jail or they have been followed (if not beaten) all the time by the security police... Nothing could pass into the newspapers or books unless the institution of censorship allowed. Everybody was followed, no one could trust nobody (there have been many cases in which somebody best friend or even husband / wife went to the security police and betrayed him), the country's border were closed so that nobody could pass in a western country, people weren't allowed to group (not even for artistic or neutral reasons) etc., etc. It wasn't a joy, anyway...
I have in no way heard of a entrance butt and I surely do not know what a gunt is. You have me harassed once more however that is OK. It's rather average for me to be this manner. The Yahoo pencil says gunt is misspelled. LOL.
