Im in the Army and my unit is gearing up for deployment to Europe or South Korea soon. Since it’s a non combat zone I’ve been told that she is able to come with me to either one and live with me. Is this true?

Yes and no.
DEPLOYMENTS are YOU going off to some temporary assignment. ----
Units being deployed to Iraq, ships being deployed on 6 month cruises.......your wife stays HOME, on the base, where ever your base.
Some billets are NON Accompanied.....NO spouse or family members........so it all depends.
Yep
She is free to travel to Europe and South Korea. However, she would be under the same normal restrictions of any tourist. That means that she is limited to the length of a tourist visa, isn't command sponsored, and not covered under the SOFA. If there is an exchange and/or commissary, she might not be able to use it, or might have restrictions on what she can buy. If you are deployed to a host nation base, she might not be allowed on, and there probably won't be any on-base lodging for her. Depending on what sort of rules you are under, you might not be able to get out to she her much and might not be able to spend the night with her.
RANGER SCHOOL!
no. well, she can..on her dime, and abiding by the laws of that nation regarding US tourists. she would NOT be allowed to stay wherever you are quartered. you would be footing the bill for all her costs: travel, hotel, food, etc.
Deployments - NO. PCS orders - Yes.
A Deployment is a time when your unit or ship leave it's home base for a period of time then returns.
Example: Your on a ship home ported in San Diego and the Ship Deploys to Westpac for Six Months then returns. Another Example: Army Unit Deploys to South Korea for Six Months then Returns. Dependents Can not go.
PCS is Permanent Change of Station Orders. You get PCS orders to go to Germany. It is for three years. Your Wife goes with you and you live in govt. housing.
Don't get Deployment mixed up with PCS.
Europe, yes. S. Korea is still, technically, a war zone; so, no.
If it is a deployment, it is a Temporary Change of Station. Your wife does NOT come with you. She CAN travel to the destination on her own dime. Married quarters will NOT be provided. If you have a VERY cooperative chain of command, you MIGHT be allowed to stay with her. Everything would be at your own cost including providing transportation to your place of duty.
She WILL NOT be allowed to live with you. You MIGHT be allowed to live with her.
If you are given a change of station and it is an accompanied tour, she can come with you. If you are going on a temporary deployment then she can not come with you. You will be given temporary quarters at your temporary assignment and there is no room for spouses. You need to determine if it is a change of station or a true deployment.
