You only need JDk if your apps are relying on Java. If they are relying on it, then no way around it, but if you are concerned about space, there are some JDK-lite versions floating arround, that you can use in conjunction with HTTPLite, which really rees up memory and processor usage. A simple google search, or a visit to sourceforge should net you all the software you want.
