Can brain hypermetabolism stop on its own?

Hello, I have something called Visual Snow Syndrome. I was looking at research for it (which there barely is) and they found that people with visual snow had there right lingual gyrus more metabolcally active compared to people who dont have it. And this study was done on people with a history of migraines on people who have visual snow and also on people who just have visual snow and never experienced migraines.

I read that for this to stop, you must identify the underlying cause. However, people with visual snow who dont have it from something like lyme disease, MS, tumors, etc, never have anything else wrong with them, except for symptoms like after images, photophobia, etc.
