I'm going to be trying out for my high school's tennis team this spring and I'd like to go ahead and get some equipment So that I'll be able to practice with some friends at the rec center. What should I be looking for in a racquet or any other equipment? If size is a factor in what to buy I'm 5'11(probably will be 6' at least by the time the season gets here) and about 150 lbs. I've never played tennis before but I do understand it for the most part I've been doing some research. I've got good hand eye coordination too as I've played hockey for 8 years if any of that matters.
Update:Edit: I'm a freshman by the way so I'll be 15 when the season is starting.

At least one of these stores has a little hand printout that you can use to get a rough idea of what your grip size ought to be. Unfortunately, the old grip-size formulas have sometimes given us grips that are too *big.* Therefore, I recommend using a loaner [demo] programs BEFORE you plunk your money down on a racket. Have some fun looking at different brands, grip sizes, head sizes, and string jobs, if you can.
Big-box stores and sporting goods stores have rackets for about $50, so you could get two identical rackets for $100. I think it's a mistake for a beginner to spend $200 or $250 on a racket, when the player doesn't really know whether tennis is going to be "permanent" as far as staying with it.
You will need good, tennis-specific shoes. That should run about $100 a pair. Do not skimp on your shoes. If you get cheap shoes, or the wrong kind of shoes, or shoes that don't fit correctly, you will probably suffer for it. Use foot powder, thick socks, and wear them around the house or apartment for a few days *before* you play in them.
Best of luck :-)
Got watch tennis on tv or in the park. see how they play. get a coach and start learning. Wiki it whatever, but you cannot explain tennis in words. Go get a coach your first times and you will learn how to play. Tennis is hard to learn from 0 experience. You must invest money into a coach.
You definitely need an adult racquet bu since you are 5'11 also since you are a beginner you need a balanced Raquet I would recommend a head Raquet an raptor os is a really good model also you need a tennis balls hoped it helped
