Whether Darwin existed or not is irrelevant to the work done in piecing the data together for the model known as the Theory of Evolution. Like most other fields of science, people who use it know and understand why it works. That said, science has nothing to do with my atheism. We have an unbelievable claim of magical super Being existing and no actual support whether through evidence or reasoning. I don't have to be a mechanic to not believe Gremlins are the reason my car won't start.
Because His discoveries have bean confirmed and expanded by hundreds of biologists in the years since (most of whom were not atheists), without the discovery of a single bit of evidence that would suggest he was wrong.
In Darwin's time, Mendel's genetics were understood and repeatedly successfully tested, but the mechanism of those genetics was still unknown. It wasn't until 1953 that DNA was discovered. I learned about DNA in 1961, as a high school freshman in an honors biology class. Understanding how DNA works, perfectly explains how heritable traits are passed from one generation to the next and provides a biological mechanism that explains exactly how evolution works.
After college, I worked in a research lab where both paper and gel electrophoresis was used to determine the sequence of nucleotides in genetic samples. Although my job involved the electronic automation of such tests, I was friendly with the molecular biologists who interpreted the results. With a little tutoring, it was easy for me to see how a particular nucleotide was changed if and when a mutation occurred. It was also easy to understand how a mutation could propagate through generations of the mutant's descendants and would either succeed or fail, depending on natural selection (or human intervention in the laboratory). Forgive me for being blunt, but I've understood DNA's place in evolution since I was 14 years old (in 1961) and know that if you don't understand it 58 years later (in 2019), it can only be the fault of your grossly inadequate education.
Atheists do not believe in gods, That's it, Atheism has nothing whatsoever to do with Darwin or his theory of natural, selection.
Evolution, which has been developed considerably in the 150+ years since Darwin wrote On the Origin of Species, is accepted by theists and atheists alike including all the mainstream Christian religions because the evidence for it is overwhelming. Evolution is less likely to be fiction than gravity. In which case, why don't you test both theories by jumping off a cliff?

A person can battle atheism and other sins using the rosary and fasting.
Some would argue that evolution did not occur completely due to 'survival of the fittest', rather that it was planned all along according to Nature.

Never heard of a book called Darwin
Do you mean, like the bible? Which has been proven time and time again to be a complete work of fiction?

Because I accept what everyone (apart from you) who has ever heard the name “Darwin” accepts: that “Darwin” was a real person, long dead.
You seem to think that “Darwin” was a book or something.
Because he supplied the evidence to back it up as fact.
Why address this to atheists?
Did you not know that Darwin was a Christian?
