To anyone in today's modern society the Jesus of the past would look like a crazy homeless man who should be locked up so I highly doubt anyone would recognize him as Jesus...not even his followers.
Atheists don't necessarily believe that Jesus didn't exist. They just don't believe that Jesus was the son of something that people call "God".
i might...he'd probably give off a vibe off being incredibly cool and thoguhtful. but since every jesus that shows up in this hemisphere looks like a surfer from So.Cal, im not sure. JESUS WASNT WHITE!!! would the average christian ahve any idea what jesus looks like? probably not. jesus would probably be cool about me doubting god's existence, that would be a big clue, few religious folk can accept my doubt, so one who is cool and understanding(cuz, lets face it, there have been some HORRIBLE representatives of "gods word"), would give me an inkling cuz he's able to rise above squabbling and just have the quiet confidence that he's right, wouldnt need to argue w/ me, like so many religious representatives do. and i'd have MAD respect for that guy
Yes. The other day I was standing next to my friend Jesus Lopez and I recognized him immediately.
Seriously, Christians wouldn't recognize Jesus either. No one knows what Jesus looked like. All we have ever seen are artists' renditions of what they imagined was Jesus's appearance.
I wouldn't recognize you if you stood next to me, unless you introduced yourself. You might even have to convince me that you're the same guy who wrote this question in Yahoo Answers. It shouldn't be too difficult, of course. It wouldn't take much to convince me that you're this person.
If Jesus were to stand next to me, I probably wouldn't recognize him unless he introduced himself. Even then, he would have to convince me that he was the mythical character in the Bible. That would be much much more difficult than you covincing me that you are you. However, Christians think that Jesus is God, and they're supposed to be extremely intelligent and powerful. I wouldn't think that Jesus would have a hard time of it.
In fact, that I'm an atheist right now is evidence that no such god has tried to convince me of its existence. Since a god supposedly knows exactly what would and what wouldn't convince me, and since that god supposedly controls the whole universe, this means that God, if he exists, has purposely tried to keep me from being convinced.
And, of course, I can't choose whether to follow God or not unless I'm convinced there actually is such a god. Therefore, God takes away free choice by not presenting himself for me to choose.
Why condemn atheists? Even the believers would have a hard time recognising Jesus. We all carry a concept of what Christ would be like if He came to this earth (in clouds, halo, lights shining, etc.)
Well, not many people wander around with holes through both hands, so if I found myself standing next to a kind-eyed Jewish guy with that kind of scarring who had just given all his money to a homeless person, I would probably strike up a conversation.
(Admittedly, I would probably think he was a religiously-motivated self-mutilator.)
Would a Christian recognize him? Or better yet, would Jesus recognize all of these people who call themselves Christians but don't live a Christian lifestyle?
i'm no longer keen approximately spirituality, and that i've got not met or heard of the different atheists who're keen approximately spirituality. Why are you so keen approximately making use of the trademark image next to issues that are patently no longer trademarked?
Seeing as Jesus is a purely mythic entity with no mention in recorded history (apart from self serving church sources and the acknowledged Christian forgeries in Josephus, there is nothing) it aint going to happen is it ?

John 10
25Jesus answered them, "I told you, and you do not believe; the works that I do in My Father's name, these testify of Me.
26"But you do not believe because )you are not of My sheep.
27"My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me;
28and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.
29"My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand.
30"I and the Father are one."

Probably, he'd be the person being nice.
the better question is:
Would Jesus recognize a Christian if they were standing next to each other?
The answer is - No!
Would a Christian recognize him? Or better yet, would Jesus recognize all of these people who call themselves Christians but don't live a Christian lifestyle?
