It is just nail polish but it is a thicker nail polish that is less harsh on your real nails. Acrylic can ruin your nails thats why the new gel manicures are taking over and becoming very popular because they are similar. They can put tips on before they use the gel so the end result will look the same as acrylic but not as harsh. When you go down to the salon tell them that you want to look of acrylic but using gel so you want the tips. Many gel manicures just simply lay the gel over your natural nails like a polish but you can get the tips added so just make sure you ask and talk to them about that before they start working on your nails.

Gel manicures are basically the application of gel polish which lasts longer than regular polish. They are not considered fake nails and will not add any length. There is a version of gel nails that are fake nails. If you want to add length, you'll need to get tips put on and get acrylics which is what I wear and strongly recommened. This will work best for your french tips nails. I'd go with acrylic with french tips. You'll get the look you want and they'll be strong.
