Would it be OK if a Santa Claus-like figure made a guest appearance?
Update:Pi : You Fool. If you own the land, you can put a creche on it.
Update 3:Don't Need You : Government is not a religious event! Maybe the fudge packers could form 'S' corporations to protect their holdings. Also, if they do get to marry, don't let them divorce!
Update 5:Peace : I'm saying a 'creche' is not an accurate portayal of anything in the Bible. If they can put up a Christmas Tree (Invented by Martin Luther) outside the firehouse, why not a little grass shack with a beast or two in it.
Update 7:Debbie P : Not. Most cities and towns do put up decorations at Christmas time. And they are called "Christmas Decorations". You got your head in the sand?

The reason that most cities and towns don't allow christian holiday decorations on public property is because other religions want displays of their own wintertime holidays too. Before you know it, there's a jumbled mess in front of the firehouse. Santa Claus is a secular figure and since christmas has become a holidiay mostly for kids and gift giving, most people don't object to his appearance. Put your creche on your own front lawn.
SOMEONE is vested with authority to determine the decor of the fire-house. If that's you, you have full legal power to put-up whatever you like that doesn't block traffic or something.
Democrats will say you cannot because they have no respect for the rule of law.
Silly You! We can't have the celebration of Christmas! That is too offensive. Now if you wanted to build a mosque that would be fine, we have to have tolerance after all.
Because it offends their delicate senses and they stomp their little liberal feet and say "it is not right, I should not have to see that, it offends me." Then they turn around and want us to unequivocally embrace sausage smugglers getting "married" and are surprised that we actually do not want to see that.
