5. If you looked at the eastern horizon and saw the full Moon just rising in the east, in what direction would you look to see the Sun?
6. You are planning to do some evening ocean sailing some time in the near future. Because of scheduling conflicts, the only time that you can sail is 9:00 p.m. Since you would like to have the Moon in the sky to help you navigate, what phases could the Moon be?

4. New moon rises at 6AM and sets at 6PM so you would see it
The first quarter rises at noon and sets about midnight so you would see it
The full moon rises at 6PM and sets at 6AM so you would not see it
The third quarter rises at midnight and sets at noon you would just see it
So you could see the moon from the third quarter through the new moon up until the first quarter
5. West
6. Basically the first quarter rises at noon and sets about midnight so you would see it
The full moon rises at 6PM and sets at 6AM so you would see it
The third quarter rises at midnight and sets at noon you would not see it
So you would see a moon just before a first quarter until just after a full moon (between the waxing crescent and the waning gibbous moons)
