Why don't you just Google Christopher Columbus? There is all the information you could possibly need. You will get the routes he took and the dates sailed and countries visited etc.
From the dates, you can then type them into Google and see what was going on in the world at that time?

He sailed from southwestern Spain to the Bahamas. It isn't known exactly which island he landed on.
